New Foundation Leadership

New Foundation Leadership

The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors: Dawn Cherek, Tiffany Praeger and Sue Shulfer. All embody the spirit of the communities the Foundation represents, bringing talent, expertise and energy to the table.

Dawn Cherek currently is Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central WI, an organization she has been part of for 18 years. She joined the Foundation Board to be involved in making a widespread difference in the community. She says, “I love the fact they help others and nourish our great community in so many different ways.”

Tiffany Praeger is Teen Director and Camp Program Director at the Stevens Point Area YMCA. Tiffany is excited to be a Foundation Director because she has seen first-hand the effect Foundation-funded programs have had on teens in the community. She says “it is such a warm and comforting feeling knowing the community works together to take care of our youth.”

Sue Shulfer is the Director of Human Resources at Delta Dental of Wisconsin. Sue says she is passionate about the Community Foundation because it is about people helping people within the communities we live. She has served on many boards over the years, including the United Way of Portage County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Achievement Center, CAP Services and Community Industries Corp.

Bev Laska was recently elected President of the Community Foundation Board of Directors. She shares that serving on the board allows one to see more and more of the needs and efforts it takes to make this a wonderful place to live. “There so many organizations and individuals that give the time, money and labor to make it happen.”
Other Officers elected for fiscal year 2016 are President-Elect Jim Canales, Vice President Rick Flugaur, Treasurer Jim Robinson, Secretary Carie Winn, and Immediate Past President Rob Manzke.

The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin continues to be the leading voice and catalyst for inspiring charitable giving and improved quality of life in Portage and Waushara Counties.

Carie Winn is Chair of the Community Foundation Marketing Committee.
